Compelling Power.
Do you remember sitting through many boring and lifeless services at church? Maybe your main pre-occupation was to predict the closure of the service. The reason for this may be that your priest or minister was not born again. On the other hand many Christians are genuine and have a real message to impart. But for the message to have any impact, it must be compelling. End of story. That is why Dag Heward-Mills wrote this book about Anagkazo which simply means to compel”. Any form of soul-winning in our modern day and age, will have to be the anagkazo type and gentleness and meekness will not take you very far. Two other important Greek words are also mentioned in the book – biazo and anaideia. Biazo means to force and anaideia means to be shameless and persistent. Dag Heward-Mills illustrates with practical examples, especially from his medical school and hostel days, why you should sometimes be forceful and shameless when you preach the gospel. Bishop Heward-Mills did not inherit a church – he used the principle of anagkazo to win the souls of his church members.
